Thanh Hoa, Vietnam - The regional USAID Low Emissions Asian Development (LEAD) program and Vietnam Forests and Deltas (VFD) program, in partnership with the Thanh Hoa Provincial Peoples Committee and the Ministry of Planning and Investment, organized a technical workshop in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam during December 9-10, 2013 titled "Putting Policy into Practice: Development of Green Growth Strategies for Thanh Hoa Province".  Approximately 40 participants from national and provincial government agencies, business groups, international organizations, and academia attended to learn about green growth concepts, review case studies of successful low-carbon policies and plans, and kick-off a process to implement the national Green Growth Strategy at the provincial level.

Through the workshop participants agreed on establishment of an inter-agency steering committee to develop a detailed strategy, and prioritized sectors, including sustainable agriculture and energy. The workshop is part of assistance by the LEAD and VFD program to help Thanh Hoa, one of the fastest growing provinces of Vietnam, become a model province for implementation of the Green Growth Strategy.
